About the Founder

Hi, my name is Andy Rowe, Founder of LloydysWorld CIC.

I know first-hand what it means to rebuild your life after prison. When I was released, I experienced the challenges many people face: uncertainty, limited support and the expectation to start over with very little. Navigating housing, benefits, appointments and daily life can feel overwhelming, especially when you're trying to build a positive future.

I was fortunate to receive CAS3 accommodation after release and eventually secure stable housing. However, many people are not as lucky. Too often, individuals leave prison without the practical support, opportunities or guidance needed to successfully reintegrate into society.

Those experiences inspired me to establish LloydysWorld CIC. Our mission is to ensure that people leaving prison are treated with dignity and respect, while receiving practical support, essential items and opportunities to move forward with confidence.

We believe that everyone deserves the chance to make a fresh start. Through clothing support, community projects, skills development and positive pathways into volunteering, education and employment, we aim to help people build stable, purposeful and independent lives.

Future projects

Blankets of Hope

Blankets of Hope is a future LloydysWorld CIC project that will transform unwanted clothing and textiles into handmade blankets for people experiencing hardship.

The project will provide opportunities for prison leavers and other community members to learn sewing, repair and textile reuse skills while creating practical items that directly benefit local people.

By combining creativity, sustainability and social purpose, Blankets of Hope aims to reduce textile waste, improve wellbeing, build confidence and strengthen community connections.

Every blanket created represents a second chance for both materials and people, turning unwanted textiles into warmth, comfort and hope.

DAY ONE SUPPORT

LloydysWorld CIC is a Portsmouth-based Community Interest Company supporting people leaving prison to rebuild their lives with dignity, purpose and practical support.

Our Day One pathway provides practical help following release, including clothing, essential items, information, signposting and connections to volunteering, training and employment opportunities.

Through our Dress for a Fresh Start programme, we help people gain confidence and prepare for interviews, work and positive participation in their community.

Working with probation, housing, rehabilitation and community organisations, we aim to create clear pathways into support, opportunity and independence.

A circular clothing model sits at the heart of our work. Donated clothing and textiles are sorted, repaired and reused through redistribution, resale and upcycling, reducing waste while helping people in need.

Participants can also engage in practical sewing and textile workshops, learning valuable skills while creating items such as blankets for vulnerable members of the community.

Our vision is simple: combining practical support, sustainable action and community connection to help people build a positive future.

Dress for a Fresh Start

Leaving prison often means starting over with limited resources and facing significant barriers to employment, volunteering and training opportunities.

Dress for a Fresh Start provides suitable clothing and practical support to help people present themselves with confidence as they take their next steps towards independence.

The programme aims to remove one of the immediate barriers many people face by providing appropriate clothing for interviews, training courses, volunteering placements and employment opportunities.

Alongside clothing support, participants will be encouraged to access education, skills development, volunteering and work opportunities that can help build confidence, stability and a positive future.

By combining dignity, opportunity and encouragement, Dress for a Fresh Start helps people move forward with confidence and take meaningful steps towards rebuilding their lives.

Donating to the Life House

The LifeHouse is a well-established Portsmouth charity dedicated to supporting people facing poverty, homelessness and other challenges. Through its free food kitchen, community support services and volunteer-led approach, The LifeHouse provides practical assistance, dignity and hope to some of the city's most vulnerable residents. LloydysWorld CIC recognises the valuable role The LifeHouse plays in strengthening our local community and helping people access the support they need.
